BankCherokee & Wild Rumpus

Our most recent shoot was a fun one. Partnering with BankCherokee again, we took over Wild Rumpus. Wild Rumpus is a bookstore devoted to children and young adults. Their commitment is to create a space that’s welcoming, safe, inclusive, and thoughtfully designed to nurture young readers of all backgrounds.

This shoot was a memorable one — not just for the story we captured, but for the company we kept. Wild Rumpus is home to more than books; it’s also home to cats, birds, chinchillas, and even a lizard. Their occasional cameos brought unexpected (and welcome) moments of levity to the interview.

As a video production team, adaptability is second nature — and in this case, it was essential. We knew the animals were part of the bookstore’s charm, and we embraced the possibility of a few interruptions. In fact, including them was key to making the final piece feel true to the space.

In a children’s and youth bookstore as beloved as Wild Rumpus, our goal was to reflect its magic as naturally as possible. The animals, the atmosphere, and the heart of the place all had a role to play — and we were there to make sure that came through with every shot.

Capturing clean audio and intentional visuals in a dynamic, sometimes unpredictable space required a thoughtful setup and a nimble approach. Working in a tight location pushes us to be more creative with framing and pacing. It also allows us to capture authentic interactions that bring a story to life.

Collaborating with Repeat Clients

Long-term client relationships give us the opportunity to go deeper. We’re able to better understand a brand’s voice, refine the visual approach over time, and create content that feels fresh while staying true to the core message.

This shoot with BankCherokee was a great example of that kind of collaboration. As a local video production team based in Minneapolis, we were especially proud to help share the story of Wild Rumpus — a neighborhood bookstore making a big impact — and the support it received from BankCherokee.

Telling Stories That Reflect Community Values

At the heart of this shoot was a story about community: a bank supporting a local bookstore that’s making space for young readers of all identities and experiences.

In any production, we’re always looking for through-lines — the places where mission, values, and environment align. Projects like this remind us that video production doesn’t just share what an organization does — it has the ability to reflect a company’s authenticity, values, and who they serve.

Capturing Personality Through Environment

The store itself was a great background to draw inspiration from when finding our frame for the interview and b-roll locations. Every detail in the store told us something about the values behind the brand. With so much personality built into the space, we had plenty of room to get creative and let the environment help tell the story.

That’s why, during pre-production, we always make time to walk through the space. It gives us a chance to get familiar with the environment, align on the core message, and map out how we’ll bring that story to life visually and technically.

At Visual Captive, we love helping bring meaningful stories like this to life. Stories that celebrate community, creativity, and the values that connect people and place.

Whether you're a brand looking to highlight local impact or an organization ready to share your story in a more intentional way, we're here to help.
